An event security Devon developed app called The Krowd, which has been created by KrowdThink, has received £250,000 funding from the Home Office. The app aims to connect event organisers, event goers and event security teams and provides a centralised hub for communication with the view of ensuring the smooth running of operations.
KrowdThink Managing Director, Geoff Revill has spoke of the impression that The Krowd app is going to make, while citing the importance of the Home Office’s input. He said, as reported by Gov.UK: “I am delighted that The Krowd app is going to be rolled out commercially. Our dedication to producing a truly interactive and effective crowd safety tool has paid off.
“The funding and support from the Defence and Security Accelerator and the Home Office has given us expert insight, significantly accelerating our ability to move forward commercially. We have created a unique product that we are confident will make crowded places and events fundamentally safer.”
The cash injection from the Home Office comes as part of the first initiative to be rolled out publicly, in response to the 2017 terror attacks in London and Manchester. The Defence and Security Accelerator competition, aimed at Improving Crowd Resilience, sought innovative and original concepts to lower the risk of terrorist and anti-social behaviour in places where large crowds are present.
The Krowd was earmarked as an app that meets that criteria, and consequently KrowdThink received 25% of the one million pound budget, assigned shortly after the London Bridge attacks.
As well as allowing event attendees to send instant messages to a security team, the specially designed app also allows users to send images instantaneously, helping security guards in Devon visualise, pinpoint and address a threat. Another key feature of the app is that it requires no set-up or admin – simply connect to your event or location Wi-Fi and start communicating.
The app also provides security teams with the ability to directly message attendees, guiding them to safety in the event of an emergency. Visit The Krowd app dedicated page to learn more about the product’s intelligent configuration and watch the demonstration video below:
We’re always looking for sophisticated and intelligent technology to make our security operations even tighter. The Krowd app is an advancement that, going forward, our staff will be able to make full use of, alongside the tried and tested measures and platforms that we currently have in place.
At W4G Security, our TRACKTIK technology enables us to provide incident monitoring and updates,
supply reports and provide officers with a communication platform. The Krowd app will provide us with another way of communicating instantly with event organisers and, perhaps more importantly, attendees of the given event.
Previously, we brought you up to speed with The Importance of Security Guards and Door Staff at Events, and this development – allowing for regular communication with event attendees – enables us emphasise our presence at events.
Meanwhile, speaking of how the government and industry leaders have united to provide groundbreaking solutions – such as The Krowd app – Security Minister, Ben Wallace revealed: “We are bringing government and industry together to develop tools designed to keep us all safe as we go about our day-to-day lives.”
He continued, “I am delighted that this initiative has already started to yield some ground-breaking technologies, like this app, and I look forward to further such innovations.”
We’re excited to integrate The Krowd app into our security operations. This communication platform will work seamlessly alongside our TRAKTIK technology, to make response times even faster. Whether you require stewarding, dog handlers or security guards Exeter, W4G Security has the complete security solution for any event.
